Jan. 21st, 2012 11:14 am1) We saw Morbid Saint last night.
2) While I understand why
dionysus_petals couldn't make it,
jonsiron, you are on fucking notice. You should have been there. No, I don't want to hear no bullshit about "living in British Columbia," blah blah blah. Fact is, both Doug and I feel very strongly that your presence would have made the world a better place. Oh, and the music was awesome and you would have been 16 all over again and howling around the circle pit.
3) Speaking of Doug, he's a wonderful spouse and human being.
4) We saw the Thrash Banana at the show: tall skinny guy wearing yellow jeans, a yellow hoodie, and a yellow denim sleeveless battle jacket with a Morbid Saint back patch.
5) Polish food is not compatible with metal shows. Gods, I almost puked up my dinner during Deceased (also incredibly awesome AND playing with Artillery in May at St. Vitus *looks meaningfully at Mindy*). I'm sticking with sushi next time.

Date: 2012-01-21 05:21 pm (UTC)We have colorful (pun intended) characters at our shows here in Chicago, too, but no Thrash Bananas. There's 1950's Thrasher, a dude that's overly muscled, sports a pompadour, ALWAYS wears a wife-beater and jeans, and is COVERED in tattoos. We also have Patchy McGee, a guy who wears a T-SHIRT (srsly), jeans, and baseball cap so covered in heavy metal patches that we're not convinced there's actually any clothing under the patches...
We usually see those guys at cock rock shows, but they do show up at the random gig, too.

Date: 2012-01-21 07:23 pm (UTC)MS are putting out a box set of material, so maybe you'll get lucky and they'll schedule a real tour. NYC was only the second show they've played in months (possibly since they got back together). The first was in their hometown in December, and tonight in Philly is the last scheduled show. I think they're just testing the waters right now, and the crowd was enthusiastic as hell in NYC.

Date: 2012-01-21 09:21 pm (UTC)1) scarfing new tunes from xray
2) being put on notice by xray
3) repeat.
I think my \m/ merit badge is at risk of being stripped :(. My nonstop listening to Bolt Thrower's IV'th Crusade lately may not protect my eternal soul from being saved...
Wish I were there!

Date: 2012-01-21 09:26 pm (UTC)This reminds me that I should probably get together another care package of metal for you. 2011 was an excellent year.
The Bolt Thrower delivers upon you many sins to avoid the boredom of Heaven. Bolt Thrower is magical like that. ;-)

Date: 2012-01-23 02:32 am (UTC)And also, yes, Doug is pretty rad =D
I am sooooooo sad that I missed this, but I am glad you rocked the hell out! Let's please get together soon for something anyway! Shows seem to be happening again if nothing else - this would have been my first metal gig since the hand-break-ov-doom, so I am chomping at the bit. Deceased in May is go, if nothing else! (And oh man, am I glad I realized that sushi place was near Europa. The only thing that makes that venue's sound tolerable is free sake)

Date: 2012-01-23 03:53 am (UTC)Would love to meet up for shows or food. Zoroaster is, alas, a no-go, but I think I'm free for Goatwhore (I have to check the calendar at work).
Hang in there!!
Thrash Banana was amazing. If we're lucky, Morbid Saint will do a proper tour and come back to NYC, and you'll see him in all of his glory.

Date: 2012-01-24 07:59 pm (UTC)Re: Martyrdoom (it's the only decent metal fest going this summer) will be a hoot. Did I meet any of those people at RODIII? I'm hoping that I can get a few m_c people together for a visit to the Brewery beforehand.
