Yea, verily. I occasionally post about personal and some work-related issues that belong hidden from the idly prying eye.

I don't have a set friending policy, although sometimes it takes me awhile to notice that there are new names at the bottom of the profile page. If you want to give me a holler (or at least tell me who you are), drop me a note in this entry. All comments will be screened to protect the guilty and perverted.

Update 23 Feb 10 -- I've started weeding out people from the flist who don't post and who I am pretty sure don't even use LJ any more. It's not personal; it satisfies some primal thing within me to have things organized and well-categorized. If you lurk, drop me a PM.

Tried another import and that seems to not be going so well, but the last one seems to be from 2012 so I've preserved most of the Golden Years of this account.
xraytheenforcer: (facepalm)
I tried to set up an import for the entries from August 2011 forward, but it seems to have shat the bed.

Ah well, it was mostly drivel anyway!

1) We saw Morbid Saint last night.
2) While I understand why [livejournal.com profile] dionysus_petals couldn't make it, [livejournal.com profile] jonsiron, you are on fucking notice. You should have been there. No, I don't want to hear no bullshit about "living in British Columbia," blah blah blah. Fact is, both Doug and I feel very strongly that your presence would have made the world a better place. Oh, and the music was awesome and you would have been 16 all over again and howling around the circle pit.
3) Speaking of Doug, he's a wonderful spouse and human being.
4) We saw the Thrash Banana at the show: tall skinny guy wearing yellow jeans, a yellow hoodie, and a yellow denim sleeveless battle jacket with a Morbid Saint back patch.
5) Polish food is not compatible with metal shows. Gods, I almost puked up my dinner during Deceased (also incredibly awesome AND playing with Artillery in May at St. Vitus *looks meaningfully at Mindy*). I'm sticking with sushi next time.

Today I got my Venenum (death metal band with ties to the now-defunct Excoriate) CD and t-shirt from Germany!

Crazy, awesome, entertaining as hell helmetball match in San Francisco today. It has been a long, long time since the Niners have done anything really good, and I am so glad to see them (at least for now) back in form. Amazing scenes, with Vernon Davis running over to the sideline, weeping with joy while hugging the head coach, after he caught the game-winning touchdown. Having a celebratory bit of Lagavulin right now.

Behold...the Arctopus! are playing a gig at Club Europa in February. \m/

That brings back memories of 2002/early 2003, when I was to see [livejournal.com profile] meh_of_munich 's brother and his band at the old Knitting Factory. I didn't get out of work in time to see their set (that was when I was still a fact checker, I think, and I wasn't the master of my own schedule), but I got there in time to see the headliner -- this trio of total freaks, one of whom was playing a fucking Warr guitar. That was some insane shit, man.

"And to think that we share 99% of our DNA with Wayne Rooney." -- [livejournal.com profile] enjai_pearson

Doug and I were chatting today, and for reasons now lost to the mists of time, Doug unleashed that quote. It still makes me laugh.

While I don't plan on giving up cooking, I would be happy to visit the yellow-billed magpies every month.

In 2012, xraytheenforcer resolves to...
Get back in contact with some old gay rights.
Learn to play the pro-choice.
Give up cooking.
Find a better lesbianism.
Spend more time with my antaeus.
Go to the yellow-billed magpies every month.

Get your own New Year's Resolutions:

I am packing my bags for the trip out West to see the family, and I currently have the following band t-shirts packed: Absu, Ignivomous and Inquisition. I am wearing Antaeus. At some point in the not-very-distant past, I used to own shirts that one could wear to work or out with one's family. I didn't get rid of them, but I can't find the fucking things, either. The hell?

Just ran into [livejournal.com profile] i_am_vidoq on the F train to work this AM. One of the few times I've even been happy to meet anyone on the train (usually it's coworkers and I see them enough as it is).

[livejournal.com profile] _lady_narcissa_ -- where in Chicago is the Christmas Market?

Riding the 6 train during rush hour is like being crushed by Satan's own asshole. Gods, I hate that train.

Tickets for NWN!fest just went on sale.

Day 1

Day 2 and 3

BTW, here's this year's lineup:

There are 219 bands whose name includes the word "goat." Or, more precisely, adheres to *goat* in naming convention; that number drops to 170 if one uses goat* (where * is a wildcard). Notable monikers include Goatwhore, Goathammer, Goatfather and Goatpenis.

Back home from San Antonio and Rites of Darkness III. Excellent time, all around, although my neck really really hurts right now. Or it did until I took a giant horsepill naproxen. Now it's just merely sore. Pictures later. Much love to [livejournal.com profile] becala and [livejournal.com profile] sigrdrifumal and [livejournal.com profile] boh_thrashsody -- I hope y'all had an excellent time on Day 3. I can't believe I missed Ares Kingdom TWICE. Ah well, NWN!Fest will be my chance.

I am so happy I live in a world where this video is possible. And if it isn't the official music video, it damned well should be. Too bad the werewolf is such a shitty bowler.

Music courtesy of Speedwolf (I actually linked to this song a couple of weeks ago, before we discovered this amazing video), whose debut full-length album has this year's best artwork, hands down. Anthropomorphic wolves in battle jackets, carrying firebrands and riding choppers...with Death. It doesn't get more metal than that.

I ordered a book that was, prior to my purchase, sitting in a warehouse on Long Island, New York. Since its dispatch, it has visited Jersey City, New Jersey; Capitol Heights, Maryland; and Greensboro, North Carolina. And it somehow thinks it will be delivered to me today. Bite me, you fraudulent bastards.

...driving through New Jersey with a slightly inebriated spouse who is madly air-drumming along to Drive Like Jehu songs.

(yes, I was -- and always will be -- designated driver. Thanks, Herman! We had driven down to drink Russian River beers, which are quite difficult to find outside of the RR brewpub itself in Santa Rosa, and a bar in the Lower Haight. Pliny the Elder and Consecration on tap! Yes, Doug had a few. No, he did not jump up on any tables and howl.)
