They're filming The Sorcerer's Apprentice in my nabe. Of course, it's really "Manhattan," to the point where I saw a shitload of subway signs proclaiming that I was, in fact, in the West 4th St. train station. (for those not familiar with NYC, West 4th Street is in the West Village of Manhattan. I live near 7th Street in Brooklyn, which is another island entirely. LOL.

And curiouser.

They were filming on 9th Street, BTW.

I also learned that one can easily tap into the MTA power grid (that's how the crew is running all their equipment).

Funny,
I was just saying to my mates last night, after seeing a TV Spot for "Knowing", that we should start a petition to demand that Nicholas Cage stop making movies.
Now, I go to IMDb and see he has 5 projects in the pipe for 2009 and 3 more for 2010 already!

We need this petition. Now, more than ever.

Now that's just cruel. 5 projects?!
(I've been hoping Cage would quit movies for at least a decade now).

WTF happened to Cage?
"Raising Arizona" is the best.

Brooklyn, Manhattan all look the same to a clueless DC type.

Going to have fun asking her if she's doing a set visit to this one since Nicholas Cage is one of her "favorite" actors.

well there's only about five million current and former residents of the five boroughs who will be able to spot the innacuracy.

At least it's the same city/state/country/hemisphere. Every time I see Honolulu standing in for London on LOST - except the cars are on the wrong side of the road, all have the wrong-side drive and the 'British' pubs have massive Union Jacks over the bar - I want to yell at the TV.

Then in one episode they really made it convincing and I was impressed. Turns out it WAS London. The Immortal Alan Dale was in a play and couldn't get away, so made the production crew fly halfway round the world to film his part (which was about five minutes in one episode). Badass.

This happened to me once. I got off the train at what I thought was Bay Station, but it turned out to be in NYC. At first, I thought I had traveled through a wormhole, and I was like - Sweet, a wormhole train! But then I realized that I was drunk. Also, that wormholes were not real. After that, I figured out it was set up for a movie. It was rather confusing.

Anyway, I am kind of surprised that NYC does not have a few old stations that they use for dedicated film sets.
