I just took one of those awesome "OMG I am so gross" showers -- the ones where you've been disinclined to shower for a day or two, and then you go for broke and do crazy shit like shave your legs.  Yeah. So now I'm feeling moderately happy.

I have also used today's sloth windfall to wash out the catbox. Hooray, cats, you have a pristine place that you can now befilthify at your leisure.

There's a big parade on today (West Indian Day parade), but that requires going out in the sun. I am deeply disinclined to do this, as I am every year. I just don't like standing around or walking around in the goddamned sun for hours at a time, even if I would get tasty Caribbean food in the deal. I don't like jerk chicken that much.

1) That was me yesterday, lol. I am NOT a pretty sight after walking the dog over 2 miles and then taking the canoe out on the lake half the morning.

2) But they're just going to mess it up again!

3) The Evil Yellow Eye must be avoided at all costs. It burns, precioussss.

Just how many people here loathe/hate/despise/shun the orb in the sky, anyway?

The only light we seem to prefer is from cathodes.

I love it, but that is probably because I am deprived of its presence so much of the year. (Rome being a notable exception.) And this year was worse than normal.

Wettest August in 171 years

* It was the wettest August at Dublin's Phoenix Park weather station, where rainfall records began 171 years ago in 1837. (-- I live right at the entry to Phoenix Park.)

* Totals of between 70 and 110 hours of sunshine are normal for October rather than August.

Yeah, I like me some sunshine. I just don't like being outside in it for very long, or between 10am and 4pm.

Ironic, for two reasons. One, when we were in Ireland, we had one full day of rain during the daytime. All the other occasions were at night, or five minutes of drizzle. Granted, this was south and west of where you normally are, however.

That, and you come from a state known for it's sun. San Diego was not humid, but the sun was brutally strong, when we were there.

You are not supposed to be having October weather two months early.

Re: San Diego.

I know. I cannot wait for my sister to move there so that I can go visit her. :p

Have you been there before? I presume so, coming from the state as you do, but....

It would be convenient were she to move there, yes.
