So, I had all of these plans to make a great meal tonight, with lots of veggies and smoked pork chops and whatnot. Then I read on that ne'er-do-well[profile] peadarog 's LJ that he was eating pizza tonight.

Well, fuck.

So we had pizza (1/2 anchovy, 1/2 pepperoni) tonight. And it was deeeeelish.

glad I didn't read this before making dinner. Kale with cumin and paprika and rice in black bean broth (it was a "fridge-emptying" affair). I may have been tempted to order pizza (I'm not up to that kind of venture in the kitchen). Rocked out to "The GetUp Kids" while cooking, blast from the past.

Whoah! Get Up Kids. They were fun live the first time we saw them.

Far out. There's really only two songs of theirs that I ever find myself wanting to listen to: "Don't Hate Me" and "I'm A Loner Dottie, A Rebel". The latter being half of one of my favorite 7-inch slabs of vinyl ever, with the other half being Braid's "Forever Got Shorter" as part of the Post-Marked Stamps series.

Wow. Forgot about the Post-Marked Stamps series (of which I have none). The whole "Four Minute Mile" album still has good staying power (I wish that were true of the Thundercats t.v. show...)

The Braid/Get-Up Kids was the only one I owned from that series, though I regret not picking up the one that Sweep was on, since it had their song "Walking Home on the Emergency Bed".

You used the kale! Yay! I'm hoping there are leftovers, because that black bean broth was really good.

You know you are officially turning into A Person Who Cooks, right?

Well, I didn't have the pizza tonight, but I did have the anchovies. I made tilapia fillets (themselves tastless, but a nice blank canvas for flavor) decorated with thin-sliced lemons, salted capers and anchovies over a spicy risotto. Delish.

Are you blaming me for your lovely, lovely pizza? I had a calzone stuffed with mozzarella, ham, peppers, onions... Followed by chocolate truffle ice cream, while watching "Eastern Promises".

"Anchovies. Why did it have to be anchovies?"

(Picture me saying this in my best Indiana Jones Harrison Ford voice.)
