Mongolian BBQ drought

To my very great chagrin and disappointment, there does not seem to be a single Mongolian BBQ joint in the 5 boroughs of NYC. DOOOM.

(of course, now that I can't have it, it's the only thing that I want to eat.)

Unfortunate for you, Flat Top Grill does not seem to have penetrated the NYC market.

Would shabu-shabu be close enough? There seem to be a few of those around....

There is one in Oxford. We ate there.

Not that this helps you now, but isn't there Mongolian BBQ available in Boston? I'm thinking of the place we were all going to eat at once, because it was called Fire & Ice...not sure if it was Mongolian...

Okay, yet more culinary ignorance on my part.

What is MONGOLIAN BBQ as opposed to any other type?
